The TESOL Arabia LM/TAE SIG is pleased to invite you to our first event of 2017 and a new initiative, our Development Course on ‘Latest Trends in Teaching, Learning and Assessment’ which will be held at Emirates Aviation College on Feb. 3-4, 2017.
Day 1 (Friday, Feb 3) of the event will focus on aspects of teaching and learning in particular self-development. Among the many topics to be covered include: teacher expertise (Ramin Akbari), teacher motivation (Sufian Abu-Rmaileh), coaching (Mohamed Azaza), gamification (Melanie Gobert), assessing writing complexity (David Palfreyman) and personal and professional strategic planning (Christine Coombe). Day 1 is scheduled to start with registration and networking at 8:30 am and end at 4:00 pm.
Day 2 (Saturday, Feb 4) will focus on aspects related to assessment and evaluation. Topics include: from practice to production (Bita Rezaei), evaluation for self-development (Naziha Ali), latest trends in language assessment (Christine Coombe) and teacher reflection (Ramin Akbari). We are scheduled to start at 9:00 am and finish by 3:00 pm.
For this development course, we will offer two types of certificates. A certificate of attendance will be issued to those teachers who attend 7 of the 11 sessions. A certificate of course completion will be issued for those teachers who attend the two-day course and complete a project which includes a course evaluation, a 750-word book/website/software review of a professional work that focuses on one or more of the course themes and a 1000-word essay on one of the three course themes.
Attendance is free for TESOL Arabia members and AED 30 for non-members. Lunch will be available at the attendee’s expense.
