Konrad Cedro

I have been involved in a number of international educational projects in Europe, North America and Asia since 1995. After joining TESOL Arabia in 2008, I have served the organization in various capacities: as a Webmaster (2011-2015), an Annual Conference Program Chair or Co-Chair (2011-2015), a Testing, Assessment & Evaluation SIG Secretary, and an Online Courses Coordinator (2012-2015). I am currently serving as a 2016 Conference Co-Chair, a Leadership & Management SIG Co-Chair, and an online Newsletter Co-Editor (which I started in 2014).

My goal if I am elected as Vice President / President Elect (2016-2018) is to work towards sustaining the advancements we have made over the years, as well as creating new and inspiring PD opportunities for all of our members, both in the MENA region and beyond. To this end, I would like to propose the establishment of a TESOL Arabia Outreach Program that will support PD activities in under-privileged areas of the world. I would also like to see a significant budget increase for travel and research grants and a further reduction in fees for our student members. I strongly believe such initiatives will make our organization even more inclusive in the future, thus allowing us to better serve the common good.

Christina Gitsaki

During my 20-year career in the field of second language education I have contributed to the field in a number of different capacities and I have served on executive board positions at national and international professional associations. I have a wealth of professional knowledge and experience that I can bring to the TA Executive Council and help TESOL Arabia grow their membership nationally and regionally, provide professional development that responds to the current needs of ELT practitioners in primary, secondary and higher education, increase support for classroom-based language learning and teaching research, and work with colleagues to make TA more visible and effective as a professional organisation.

I feel I can make significant contributions to this post having served TESOL Arabia in various positions including President and Conference Chair as well as President of the TESOL International Association (2010-2013). In this latter capacity I had the opportunity to visit and liaise with more than 50 affiliates from around the world. Fathi Ben Mohamed

My engagement with the work of TESOL Arabia (TA) goes back to several years. In addition to co-chairing the ESP SIG for 3 years, I worked closely with nearly all TA SIGs to hold local events in Abu Dhabi in my capacity as Abu Dhabi Chapter Representative. I intend to sustain and boost the work that has been accomplished so far through improved collaboration with all the SIG teams. I believe that SIGs should be the main forum among ELT practitioners for stimulating interest and engagement in the valuable work that TA does. In addition to catering for the needs of our UAE members, my intention is to offer opportunities to network beyond the local context and hold events of a more international nature.

I would also support initiatives to create new SIGs. Areas like Content & Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and English as a Lingua Franca are worth exploring. I also believe that SIGs should have more online presence. My hope is that we can all work together to fulfill these ambitious objectives and offer much more to our members and supporters.

Mick King

As current SIGs Coordinator I had ambitious plans which I was not able to fully implement. On the other hand, I feel I have tried to streamline processes for SIGs and worked on compliance by SIGs with some success. I would aim to continue tightening up processes, look at revamping what constitutes an event to allow us to move with the times and membership wishes and aim for quicker decision-making processes via more empowerment to the TESOL Arabia SIGs Committee.

This is to express my interest in chairing the Abu Dhabi Chapter. I believe that my education, skills and experience makes me a competitive candidate for above mentioned position. I hold a bachelor degree in English language and literature and two master degrees in Linguistics and TESOL from Jordan and the US, respectively.
